Instructions
Create a typed critical analysis (in size 12 font, Times New Roman and double spaced), approximately 2 to 3 paragraphs in length. Use 3rd person perspective, full sentences, and proper paragraph structure as taught in class. Please use page 2 of this assignment package to organize your analysis.
This critical analysis must analyze a source (a journal article, magazine article, newspaper article, book, ebook, etc) from the Niagara College Library Database. You can also choose a documentary, movie, art piece, video-game, or song to analyze, as long as you let the professor know.
You should end up with 1-3 references in total: the original source you are analyzing, plus 1 or 2 additional sources to support and help prove your analysis.

Use the following prompts to assist with development of analysis content:
Explaining
When was the source written?
Why was it written? What is its purpose? Is it intended to inform, explain, persuade?
For what kind of audience was it written? How do you know this?
What do you know about the author? Does he/she appear to be an expert in his/her field or otherwise qualified to write on the topic? How is this apparent (if it is)?
What is the writer’s thesis or central question? Is there a plan? How does the author convey structure?
What are the source’s main points?
What format does the source follow?
What kinds of evidence does the author use? Which are used most extensively?
What level of language is used? Does the author include any particular stylistic features, such as analogies, metaphors, imagery, unusual or non-standard sentence structure?
Critiquing
How does the author/creator successfully prepare the reader?
Does the author manage to create interest in the topic? How is this done? Would other strategies have worked better?
Is supporting evidence specific and relevant?
What kinds of strategies and techniques does the author use to facilitate understanding? Are they effective? Are there other ways that organization or content could have been made clearer?
Does the source appear free of bias? Is the voice as objective as possible, given the argumentative stance? Has jargon and slang been avoided or used to enhance meaning?
Does the author appear reasonable? Has he/she used reason effectively, establishing a chain of logic throughout? Are there failures in logical progression?
Does the author make the issue relevant to the reader? Does he/she appeal to the reader’s values?
Does the author make emotional or ethical appeals? Are they extreme or manipulative?

The topic that I like the best is Disneys influence. I am a Disney lover at heart and grew up with allthe movies and culture kinda around it and now, passing it onto my niece. One of the reasons, why I would like to develop this topic further down the road is knowledge. I have a fair amount of knowledge about the topic and would love to share that knowledge down the road.

This reference goes over the influence that Disney has helped shape a lot people. The article contains a lot of information. It gets into the positive content that Disney produces and the magical experiences that occur at its theme parks around the world. This article was posted in 2020 which is only two years ago making it still fairly recent and relevant to my topic at hand.
